When the first Bruins table made its Suffolk party debut back in March of 2010,
it was well-received. The table got rave reviews from everyone who used
it that night, and the praise people heaped on it justified all of the
work (and money) that went into it.
The next morning was a little different. Since I had to rush to get it ready for a particular night, it wasn't really "done:" there were some details left out, and I had to use contact paper to cover the logos instead of clear coat as I'd planned. What I got was a great single night, but disaster the next morning as the plastic had come off and there were dings and nicks everywhere. The table fell into disrepair as my friends and I graduated from college, and (sadly enough) drinking games were few and far between. However, as one of my best friends recently prepared to move out, I was reminded of a promise I'd made: whoever moves out first gets to keep the table. Not one to break promises, I got the table back, and it underwent a full renovation. This time, all of the details are there, including but not limited to:
The result? The "Bruins Table II" looks better than ever, and should last a lot longer this time around. It wasn't without faults, as the clear coat caused some of the lines to run and I'm afraid the stickers/decals might not hold up to extended use, but it's great for now. If you've got any questions on how it was done, feel free to ask me. It was a fun project to work on, albeit maddeningly frustrating at times when one needs to have every detail perfect. And if you want to get beaten badly on it (I never lose on home ice), I'm sure that can be arranged as well. -Posted by Dan, 10/4/11 |
